Introduction
Using a hardware wallet is one of the best ways to store your cryptocurrency offline (cold storage). The newer version of the Ledger Nano (Ledger Nano X) has more memory and can store many more cryptocurrency coin apps than the Ledger Nano S. If you have purchased and are storing several cryptocurrencies, there isn’t a smooth way to have access to them on just one ledger. For the Cyrptocurrency balances that can’t be seen on Ledger Live, the app will need to be loaded on the Ledger Nano to see them. This becomes an issue once the internal memory is used up on the Nano. The Nano S model has less memory than the Nano X. 3-4 apps on the Nano S seem to be the sweet spot, without having to remove and replace different apps for your needs.
How to Group Apps among Multiple Ledger Nano’s
If you have multiple assets associated with Ledger live, it may be good to think of logically grouping the apps on Nano’s by installing the apps for the top 3-4 cryptocurrencies on one Nano, and then alt coins on another. What if you have more than 3 or 4 alt coins? Then just continue grouping by their rankings. This, along with choosing different Ledger Nano colors can help remember your coin groupings.
Here are the steps to install apps on a Ledger Nano:
- Search for the app to install in the App catalog.
- Click the Install button of the app. Your device will display processing…
- The app will be installed on your device.
- You can install multiple apps at once by clicking their Install buttons. Wait for the installations to finish before you quit the Manager.
Remember, if you do decide to just keep one Ledger Nano: If there’s not enough storage space, simply uninstall some apps to make room. By uninstalling apps, you will not lose your crypto assets since your private keys always remain secure on your Ledger hardware wallet.
